Here’s how to make your next real estate convention successful!

By BBS Notary Services  Published On May 29, 2025

Sure, spring and summer are busy times for all of us in real estate. However, it’s also convention season in our industry, and the BBS Notary team encourages all our friends and partners to attend at least a couple of these events each year!

Why? While we know it may be hard to get away, attending real estate conventions can be a game-changer for your business. They are the perfect opportunity to sharpen your skills, network with people who matter and stay ahead of the curve.

However, it’s important to go into any situation with a plan. That’s why we put together this list of tips, whether you’re a conference veteran or are heading out to your first group event.

Planning is key. A good conference will be filled with educational sessions and other presentations, but not everything will appeal – or apply – to you. Plus, you’ll want time to mingle and meet with other attendees. (Pro-tip: there’s no penalty for skipping a session or event.) Plan your days so you can strike a balance between educational workshops and networking opportunities. After all, the best experiences are where you leave both smarter and more connected.

Follow up with the event’s speakers. While you don’t have to attend a session during every scheduled block, these presentations are still the heart of any good conference, and you should feel free to introduce yourself after a talk that really resonated. Plus, most of them genuinely appreciate thoughtful feedback and kind words. Taking the time to connect could lead to future discussions or even a partnership.

Connect with the vendors that you already use. While exploring new products and services is valuable, revisiting your current partners can be just as beneficial. Look at an attendee list. If there’s someone there you already work with, this is a great time to ask questions, deepen your relationship and talk about how things are going for you. (The BBS Notary team would love to talk to you if we’re at the event, no matter who you are.)

Here’s one last tip for you that will help make any new event worth it. Meet someone new each day. Doing so may push you outside of your comfort zone, but it will encourage you to network. It also allows you to share your company’s story with someone who may not know what you do, which could open up a helpful door down the road. Your next big event could be exactly what you need to spark ideas, grow your referral network and reignite your motivation!
